Normal Editing Processes and Advice

Detailed editing involves the use of specialist tools for improving timing, pitch etc. and removing clicks and unwanted noises from tracks. These processes are essential to perfecting your end recording and how much is needed depends on the original recording itself; ( ie. how your instrument is set up, does it play in tune, are the strings dead, are your drum heads knackered, is your vocal pitch ok?) It is therefore important to address any issues regarding your instrument / voice that might affect your recording performance and therefore save yourself time and money in the studio.

If a track includes drums/percussion, these should be edited first, as the tempo / feel / timing will ultimately affect the rest of the performances on the track. It is not unusual to spend a whole day on one drum track alone so again, preparation is the key.

We tend to mix tracks as they progress . Nine times out of ten this proves to be a lot of time saved on the final mix as you, the performer, are normally present at this stage and therefore we progressively build a mutual understanding of the sound you wish to achieve.

Arranging

You have a good idea as to the arrangement of your masterpiece but not too sure about some aspects? (eg should there be an intro, will I leave the chorus until after the second verse, etc?) Don’t worry because between us all here we have a wealth of experience in arranging all styles of music and we will suggest changes/additions to ensure you get the ultimate arrangement for your piece.

Help with arranging, if required, is included at the normal hourly/daily rate. All we ask is to be credited in your sleeve notes!

Session Musicians

We have access to highly experienced musicians in all fields if required :
ie; Strings, Woodwind, Backing Vocals, Percussion, Guitars/Bass, Keyboards etc.

Session fees per instrument per track can range from :

£45.00 (eg light percussion, simple bass line) -

£85.00 (eg drums, clarinet/guitar/viola with intros, ad libs, solos.)

Above all, feel free to contact us if you have any queries about the recording process as the more information you have will help to make your recording session an enjoyable and succesful one.
