About Red lagoon
In April 2001, musicians Ian Smith
and Gerry O' Donnell began recording music together on their project
Erne Rising.
Since that time a programme
of recording, research development and investment has produced,
new clients and albums, and has resulted in the formation of Red
Lagoon
Music Ireland in 2004. Ian and Gerry have built up a unique working
relationship with a hugely diverse musician base in traditional,
classical, ambient and rock backgrounds.
" Our advantage is our
ability to tailor products to meet the demands of clients. Over the
last three years we have built up a reliable network of contacts
in all fields within the industry, particularly those who focus on
global markets". Ian Smith from Lisnaskea, Co. Fermanagh, is from
a family steeped in traditional Irish music. Highly regarded as a
guitarist, he is an accomplished player in many styles and has toured
Ireland, the U.K. and Europe playing everything from Country through
Rock to Traditional. Ian moved to London in the mid eighties where
he developed his recording and production skills, working with the
early versions of computer based systems. Now back in Fermanagh,
Ian's experience both as a composer musician and recording engineer
has resulted in a unique recording facility producing the Erne Rising
project and albums of the highest quality.
Gerry O' Donnell is originally from Belfast. Gerry's
musical passion comes from an early family background in traditional
music and dance, followed by formal training as a clarinettist. He
is regarded as one of the foremost exponents of the Northern style
of traditional flute and has worked and toured extensively in the
U.S. and Europe gaining valuable experience in recording, production
and organisation. The development of the Erne Rising project was
inspired by Gerry recognising that the music of Fermanagh and
the lakeland area was a rich and largely untapped musical source. |
